Nevadans Struggle to Spell ‘Seizure,’ Google Trends Data Suggests.

Nevada is home to more than any other state. As of October, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) reported that 315 locations were holding nonrestricted gaming licenses that allow the facilities to house slots and gaming machines.

While most Nevadans presumably know how to spell most gaming terms, perhaps baccarat being the most misspelled casino table game, Silver State residents struggled in 2024 to spell seizure. Researchers at Essay Hub, an online website platform designed for academic writing that links students with professional writers, report that seizure was the most Googled word in Nevada with the prompt, How do you spell…, in 2024.

This data highlighted some commonly misspelled words that you d expect to see. For example, business and dessert, which can be confusing because of the number S s, an Essay Hub spokesperson told Casino.org.

There were some surprises, too. Along with people in Nevada not knowing how to spell seizure, many in Idaho and West Virginia don t know how to spell their home state, as Idaho and West Virginia were the most googled How do you spell… terms in those states.

Many of the words on the list are certainly challenging and may have different variations, so double checking and ensuring you have the correct spelling in documents is paramount, the Essay Hub spokesperson explained of the compilation.

Nevada has a higher rate of epilepsy per 100K people than the national average at between 1,047 to 1,098. Mississippi has the highest epilepsy rate per 100K people at 1,194. Utah has the lowest at 960.

Essay Hub reports that most states had rather explainable most-googled how do you spell words and terms due to their difficulty.

In New Jersey, home to Atlantic City, the most searched spelling was thousand. In Pennsylvania, Keystone State residents often relied on Google for the spelling of reimbursement. In August, misspelled Bruce Springsteen s name Springstein.

Some of the stranger most-searched words include boutonniere in Utah, multiplication in North Carolina, prank in Virginia, and paparazzi in Minnesota. Perhaps, paparazzi became a buzzword for Minnesotans in 2024 after Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) was chosen as Vice President .

Alaskans apparently struggle to spell cheese, Californians tomato, and New Mexicans bologna.
